Step 1:
The design we have for this seahorse drawing is cute, and we’ll show you how you can draw it yourself as you go through all these steps. To start, we’ll draw the eye. This is drawn as a simple solid black circle with some white details to show the eye glow. We added curved lines above and below the eye to give it more personality. Then you can pull the show off the countenance. Seahorses have long, skinny faces that end in puckered mouths, and that’s how we’ve depicted this one. Once you’ve drawn the eyes and facial details, we can move on to step 2!
Step 2:
In this second step of our guide to drawing a cartoon seahorse, we will add a crest to the top of the head. This has long, thin structural spines, which you can see in our reference image. Once you’ve drawn them, we’ll add a curved line between each for the soft and tough sections between them. That’s all there is to step 2, and then we can move on to
Step 3:
In the previous step, you started drawing the crest on the top of the head, and we will extend it further down in this third part. The crest will come down from the head to the neck, and we will also start adding it at this stage. The ridge will look much like the first part, but the sections will get closer as you go down. Finally, use a curved line for the back of the neck under the crest; then, you’ve completed this step and are ready for the next one.
Step 4:
Our fourth step of this seahorse drawing will allow you to finish the crest you worked on and add the trunk. First, let’s focus on the ridge. This will move further down the neck, and the sections will get even smaller as you go. Next, we can draw the chest. Seahorses have a very curious body shape, and you’ll want to try and closely follow the reference image to get it right. The chest is very curved, and once it’s drawn, we’ll be ready to add more body in the following steps.
Step 5:
You’ll finish describing the body and tail of the cartoon seahorse in the next step. This will prepare you to add some final touches in the next step! First, extend the body downward, ensuring it gets thinner as you go. This will then result in the twisted spiral tail at the end.
